Tips for french class
Learning a new language is tedious and difficult, so difficult that 40% of people only know one language, while 43% know 2 languages, and the 17% know 3 or more languages
Most peoples first language is the national language from their country (English, US / Canada. China, Chinese. Etc), and in Canada, there are 2 national languages: English and French.
Learning French is pretty easy for english speakers since it uses the same letter type except with accents and slightly different pronunciations.
Installing a language learning app helps you learn faster
but don't install Duolingo, it's not the best since it requires you to buy stuff if you want to learn even faster AND it has a heart system where if you get an answer wrong, you lose a heart. If you lose all hearts, you either have to wait for it to replenish which takes hours or watch 2 ads to get 1 back which means you get 1 chance, this can lead to people spending a lot of time on a particular section and you have to do it or else your streak ends which is annyoing. The heart system is good for improving memory but I suggest that they should increase the capacity of how many hearts you get so you feel less likely to get it wrong because of how annoying it is to watch ads.
The daily streak, which is supposed to make you more likely to continue learning, is kind of annoying. Within the first 12 weeks, it was fine, but after a while, it got more and more stressful because you have to do it everyday, but if you miss it, it's not the end of the world because Duolingo is kind enough to give us 24 hours to save it.
If you took a little time to think about it. There's not really a reason to continue the streak unless if you've had it for around a year or more
But just because it has all of these downsides doesn't mean it shouldn't be used. People have learned new languages on Duolingo and will help you learn faster than if you were to start out by scratch

French is a weird and complicated language. Words will now take into account of gender, and types of tenses (Also called conjugation) meaning using certain words will be pretty complicated. Also, the order of parts of speech is different which is why in google translate if you're translation will be slightly off.
French is slightly harder than english because of the pronunciations, accents, and conjugations which add a whole new layer of difficulty. Sure it allows you to be a bit more specific and you can go visit Paris
If you want to go outside the classroom, you have to say it in french or else you can't go.
The 3 phrases that you should always know is
-
Puis-je utiliser les toilettes, s'il vous plaît ? (may I go to the restroom please?)
-
Puis-je aller à mon casier ? (Can I go to my locker?)
-
Puis-je boire à la fontaine ? (May I drink from the fountain?)
