Incentive
Failing Social studies will result in you taking a separate course with more assistance
You must (obviously) apply for which humanities 8 incentive to get into

Humanities 8 Incentive is pretty much the same as Humanities 8 except you just learn more than if you're taking the regular class
On top of all this, you get even more learning since incentive courses increase the amount of time learning which honestly isnt even that difficult from regular courses, it's just getting into incentive is what is difficult in the course itself
Humanities is a combination of both english and social studies which will be taken as one course for the entire year,
Social studies Regular courses

You will learn literature, poems, mugs or word power and learn history that dates from chinas dynasties and progress into the 1600's
You will learn literature, poems, mugs or word power and learn history that dates from chinas dynasties and progress into the 1600 - 1800
Majority of your grade consists of paragraphs that dive both into English and Social Studies topics which demonstrate your learning. Also they make up for most of your grade so as long as you hand it in with decent, work, you'll be fine since SOME teachers will give you an emerging if you don't hand it in on. time, even by 1 SINGULAR day
Humanities is a combination of both english and social studies which will be taken as one course for the entire year,

SS: INCENTIVE SOCIAL STUDIES 9
Required: Accepted into the Incentive Program (See Pre-AP/Incentive section on page 15).

SS: SOCIAL STUDIES 9
Prerequisite: Humanities 8
Social studies 9 covers topics from 1700s - 1900s such as the problems in the North from Pre-confederation Canada, colonization of the indigenous tribes and nationalism will be learned along with the geography of Earth and Canada
Paragraphs are going to be very difficult since for me, I got 3 days to start and finish the essay, while it may seem easy to you, it was difficult since you need to follow rules like proper quotations / citations, and also which order the good supporting points are in and which order the downsides are in since if it ends on a bad point, the person reading gets left on a bad point of view.
So if you can, you should definitely try to take incentive courses since they're going to give you an advantage over others academically
This course covers topics learned previously in incentive humanities 8 while also learning more stuff through active participation in group activities to individual activities.
Students will learn about 17th - 19th century pre-confederation Canada along with revolutions too, basically the same thing as social studies 9 but you learn faster
Humanities 8
Humanities incentive 8
Required to be accepted into incentive program

SS: EXPLORATIONS IN SOCIAL STUDIES 11
Explorations in social studies 11 is a course that is quite free handed as in it's easily workable while still meeting the rigorous, required standards.
Explorations focuses on travelling / trading globally and it's effect in history
SS: BC FIRST PEOPLES 12
Prerequisite: Social Studies 10
BC first peoples 12 is about the culture of first nations peoples. Students will learn about the history of the between the Canadian government and the indigenous people and how it still affects them to this very day
This course meets the new graduation requirement which is to have 4 credits in an Indigenous related course, and the Social Studies 11 or Grade 12 elective requirement for the Graduation program for all students graduating in B.C. after September 2023.
SS: PSYCHOLOGY 12
Prerequisite: Social Studies 10
Psychology 12 is obviously about psychology, it creates a new understanding for students about themselves and others. Psychology is also used in behaviours of animals which is also somewhat related to biology. Biology is also required in Psychology since it has to do with the brain and nerves of the living organisms
In psychology, you learn the nature of the human brain, reasoning, emotions, and much more
SS: LAW 12
Prerequisite: Social Studies 10
This course explains the law and legal system, it teaches students about their rights and freedoms and how to properly use them in courts
This course also is related to history with civil rights and activist rights. The very obvious and probably only jobs you can get from this is being an attorney, lawyer, and technically a judge too which are very high paying because they are in charge of somebodies life and deciding if their actions were justified or unjustified
SS: 20th CENTURY WORLD HISTORY 12
Prerequisite: Social Studies 10
The course is quite self explanatory, it's about 20th century world history such as world war I / II, civil wars, authoritarianism, vietnam / cold war, and countries rising and falling in power. It also works on strong oral communication and is also highly recommended since this course is almost always formal and serious meaning if you're even slightly informal, you might be done for.
20th century world history also focuses on essays and presentations that are worth around 30% of your grade.
SS: SOCIAL STUDIES 10
Prerequisite: Social Studies 9
This course is basically the same as social studies 9 but it adds more concepts and works on oral presentation and communication on topics like economical estates, politics, and autonomy.
