Social studies

Overview

What is social studies

Social studies is about history, geography, civics, economics, which arguably might be more challenging than other subjects since teachers typically ask students to analyze them, a task that requires individual effort, unlike math, where there's a clear solution to equations.

History is the most important part of social studies. By studying the past through major events, figures, and movements, students develop critical thinking skills and learn to analyze history like a puzzle, figuring out what causes what, and seeing how decisions made as far as 1000 years ago still affect the world in the present.

Geography, in the context of social studies, isn't as significant but is still important because of how it has affected humans, which in turn changed history. It helps students understand how the geography of the world greatly affected events in history.

Economics is more important or equal to geography since trading is going to be everywhere in history, regardless of time. Economics typically refers to the trading rather than money, so you don't have to worry about learning about stocks, banking, and other related topics, as money was more of something that facilitated trading.

Civics, which is the study of rights and citizenship, is also crucial. It’s a call to action for people to make a difference in their communities, creating a safe place for everyone to live. Students also learn how governments work, what their rights and responsibilities are, and why laws matter.

Conclusion

Overall, it's pretty challenging, so lock in and get at least a proficient since developing is the equivalent of emerging except you can at least go to socials 10

I haven't had social studies since it's in semester 2 and I'm in semester 1 so I have to make a guess as to what it's like so take everything I say with a little grain of salt

Based on how social studies is marked, I'm assuming that answering questions is like a mix of straight forward and clear answers, and a bit of your personal opinions since social studies works on viewing different perspectives.

The main difficulty in getting an extending is probably from the teacher themselves that marks them, (which is obvious but just keep on reading) since it's up to them to decide on how well you elaborated with your opinion and how much hard work they can clearly see you put in to it. That's if their "unbiased" grading doesn't bring you down to a proficient along with their rubric for the year that specifically stated in 3 millimeters that handing in assignments late more than 3 times will automatically result in an emerging no matter how good you do

But maybe that's just me so all I can say is just study hard and pray you don't get paired with people who are incompetent at just about everything
