BIOLOGY

Q: When can I take Biology?
A: (technically) after you completed science 10. If not, then you need to take multiple courses in grade 11 so you can apply for AP (Advanced placement) Biology which is in grade 12 (It is super difficult too but not as difficult as AP Chemistry 12)
Q: Do I need to apply for enriched courses?
A: No you do not need to apply for it, it is only recommended that you have a B or higher in science 11 to take this course
There isn't a course dedicated to biology due to it's vast topics which is why it's divided into multiple different courses. There are a total of 5 courses 11 graders can take which are
-
Life sciences 11
Prerequisite: Science 10
This course is about studying living organisms and will combine skills learned from previous courses (Science 8, 9 ,10) into this one
-
life sciences enriched 11
Prerequisite: Science 10
Recommended: B or better in Science 10
This course is the same as Life sciences 11 except now there will be additional information to help students prepare for Anatomy & Physiology 12 and AP Biology 12. Use of the scientific method and dissecting plants and animals are strongly defined
-
science for citizens 11
Prerequisite: Science 10 or by permission/placement
This course is meant for people who are NOT going to university and only fulfills the minimal requirements for high school graduation.

Grade 12
-
ADVANCED PLACEMENT BIOLOGY 12
Courses needed to take this course: B or better in Life Sciences 11 or Life Sciences 11 Enriched, B or better in Anatomy / Physiology 12 or Anatomy / Physiology 12 Enriched OR taking Anatomy / Physiology 12 or Enriched together.
It is highly recommended to get a B in chemistry 11

It's super difficult since this you need to get school credit and a minimum score of 4 on the AP College Board Biology Examination in early May. It also requires you to take multiple Biology related classes before-hand if you want to qualify for completing the course and is only meant for those who are going to dedicate their life to biology
IMPORTANT!
There are laboratory experiments which are mandatory to be completed by all students since these labs are examinable on the AP Biology exam.
To get first year university credit, you must obtain school credit and a score of 4 or higher instead of the usual 3 on the Advanced Placement College Board Biology Examination which takes place in early May which basically means that students can skip the introductory courses that universities will offer but only for courses that the student passed which is chemistry.
You are not 100% guaranteed to receive the credit though local universities like UBC

Since I haven't taken it, I can't figure out another course that's on a similar level of difficulty to AP biology 12
Basically, Advanced Placement biology 12 is very difficult because it's equivalent as an introductory university course
